The final week of play in the Metro Nashville Softball Association was cut short by torrential rains and storms this past Sunday, July 12. Only nine of the scheduled 23 games were completed. The remaining games will be made up on Saturday, July 18, at West Park, prior to the start of the season ending tournament.
There were two surprising games on Sunday of the nine played. Xtreme took advantage of a short handed Fireball team. Xtreme scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning and held off a late Fireball rally in a 17-11 victory. The Fireball offense struggled in their second game with Players Too. Players Too scored early en route to a 6-2 victory.
Panthers pulled off an upset in their opening game of the day as they took on league leader Players. Panthers scored six runs in the first inning and cruised to a 9-2 win over Players. Players rebounded to run rule Play Swingers in their second game. Play Swingers evened their record at 1-1 on the day with an 11-3 trouncing of Inferno. HT Red edged P3 6-5 before the rains hit. Blaze scored four runs in the first inning against Double Time and held on for an 8-6 victory. In another close game, P4 squeaked by HT Blue 13-12. The rest of the scheduled games were postponed due to the rain.
In the C-division, the highlighted game of the day Time vs. Fury was rained out. However, one C-division game was completed as Time had their offense clicking in a 19-7 victory over the Clippers. All other C-division games will be made up on Saturday, July 18.
Time leads the C-division with an 11-3 record, while Fury is second with an 8-5 record. Currently in the D-division, the Players lead the pack with a 16-3 record, followed by Xplosion 13-4 mark. Panthers are currently third at 13-5. In the E-division, Holy Trinity (Red) is in the lead with a 10-9 record. The Fireballs are second with a 9-10 record. Cyclones lead the B-division with a 14-2 record.
